The Playground by Tiger Woods’ TGR Design: A New Era of Golf on Eleuthera

Eleuthera’s Rich Golfing Legacy

The history of golf on Eleuthera traces back to the mid-20th century when the Cotton Bay Club, crafted by Pan Am founder and visionary Juan Trippe, became a hub for the era’s elite. Its Robert Trent Jones, Sr.-designed course was a groundbreaking addition to Caribbean golf, hosting matches like Arnold Palmer vs. Julius Boros in 1968. Though the club eventually closed in 2005, Eleuthera’s golfing spirit has been reignited with the debut of The Playground at Jack’s Bay, a course that blends the island’s heritage with a fresh, modern approach.

The Playground: A Spectacular Blend of Fun and Challenge

Perched atop a dramatic bluff with sweeping Atlantic views, The Playground offers an innovative 10-hole, par-3 layout designed by Tiger Woods’ TGR Design. Ranging from 55 to 170 yards, the holes can be played in multiple configurations, making it a course that welcomes golfers of all skill levels. Whether for seasoned players or families enjoying a casual round, The Playground is a joyful celebration of the game.

Enhancing the experience is the Blue Bar, nestled by the No. 4 green. With offerings from nostalgic candies to gourmet sliders, it invites players to indulge in both comfort and local flavors, adding a layer of luxury to this unforgettable setting.

A Visionary Project in Paradise

Tiger Woods’ involvement underscores the significance of The Playground as part of the broader vision for Jack’s Bay, a stunning 964-acre private club and community. Located just 10 minutes from Rock Sound International Airport, Jack’s Bay offers unparalleled views, pink-sand beaches, and plans for approximately 500 residences, ranging from villas to estate lots.

“Creating a course in such a breathtaking setting has been an incredible experience,” said Woods. “The Playground is about fostering fun, friendships, and memories in an environment that truly showcases the beauty of Eleuthera.”

A Cultural and Natural Fusion

Jack’s Bay, chaired by Sir Franklyn Wilson, KCMG, harmonizes Eleuthera’s natural splendor with a world-class residential and golf destination. Plans also include an 18-hole championship-caliber course by Woods and TGR Design, ensuring that Jack’s Bay will continue to set new standards in luxury and sport.

From its rich golfing roots to its forward-looking developments, Eleuthera, with The Playground at its heart, is poised to become a cornerstone of golf culture in the Bahamas and beyond.
